Bragging: Elected and Interviewed

Last Thursday, I was privileged to receive an invitation to join the Habari PMC (Project management committee, aka the Cabal), needless to say, It hadn't passed a minute and the acceptance email was on it's way :).

And as I told Morydd during the interview, I think of this as a responsibility more than a privilege. Any member of the Habari community, whether a committer, contributer or user, is always heard, so it's not really having an upper hand or a higher say. Habari has been and will always be for and all about its community.

The responsibility that comes with being a member of the "Cabal" is that you would be contributing in making the decisions that may impact where the project heads. For that, you would have to stop looking into things from your own personal perspective and start looking to them from other's, whether they were theme developers, plugin developers and most importantly, end-users.

It's not easy, so whish me luck ;)

Michael C. Harris

A hearty welcome to the Cabal! I don't think you need luck though, as you're already shown your commitment to the community and proved you've got what it takes to be an important participant in the PMC. That's why you were invited :)

I echo what Michael has said. It was a no brainer to +1 your inclusion when your name was put forward.

Having the opportunity to encourage and benefit from the work of people like you was the driving force behind the creation of Habari. So thanks!

Appreciate it Chris. It's really the great Habari community who pushes people to contribute to the project. And that, in my opinion, what makes Habari itself a great project to be part of.

I'm gonna have to install this Habari thing. If it would just let me select MySQL as database type... :D

Jo0lz, you need to have PDO for MySQL installed and enabled for Habari to show you the MySQL option in the installation. Can you verify that it is in your phpinfo? You should have something like this:

Unfortunately, it only shows sqlite2, sqlite. No Mysql there... As far as I've seen, you can only add it by recompiling with the right parameters, and the server's out of my administration.

I have installed it correctly on my lan server ;)
